Hie, Cathedral Catholic win CIF-SCGA Southern Regional Championship Jun 1, 2006
Cerritos High School senior Rory Hie fired a 6-under-par 66 and defeated Torrey Pines senior Jamie Lovemark in a playoff to capture the individual title while players from Cathedral Catholic High School of San Diego broke a tie with Torrey Pines High School and combined for a 3-over-par 363 to win the CIF-SCGA Southern Regional Championship today at The SCGA Golf Course in Murrieta. Despite windy conditions, Hie, who signed to play with the University of Southern California’s golf team, collected seven birdies and only one bogey on the 6,702-yard par-72 course, while future USC teammate and Torrey Pines senior Jamie Lovemark came away with eight birdies and two bogies. Hie was victorious on the par-4 ninth in the one-hole playoff, which he scored a four to Lovemark’s five.

Emerick was in good company on the course. Cerritos’ Rory Hie golfed in Emerick’s quartet and recorded a 6-under-par 66 for the tournament individual championship. He won a playoff round versus Torrey Pines’ Jamie Lovemark, who also shot a 66.
“Rory played well and that rubs off on you a bit,” Emerick said.
