Rory Hie Tied for 7th individually at 5-under to lead USC

Hie, who helped lead USC to the Pac-10 team title in April, started with the rest of the Trojans on the 10th hole and went out in 3-under. That effort featured birdies on the 10th, 13th, 14th and 17th holes and a bogey on 15. He came in with a pair of birdies on the 2nd and 5th holes for a 5-under 67, maintaining his strong play from Pac-10s, when he posted a second-round 66 and a fourth-round 67. Hie is tied for seventh in the 141-man field.
