Sophomores Rory Hie and Jamie Lovemark tied for fifth individually and three Trojans fired sub-70 rounds to lead the USC men’s golf team to a second-place tie on the final day of the 18-team, 54-hole UH-Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa (Hawaii) G.C. on Friday (Feb. 8).

Hie, who fired a USC school-record 62 on the par-70 course on Thursday, finished with a third-round 68 for a three-day 9-under 201.

Men’s golf ties for second in tourney

Rory Hie breaks a school record, shooting a 62 in the second round of play.

The USC men’s golf team hit the ground running Friday at the start of spring play by finishing second at the University of Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Village G.C.

Sophomores Rory Hie and Jamie Lovemark began the spring season by finishing tied for fifth, with Hie shooting a school record 62 in the second round.

Hie, who finished at 9-under 201 (71-62-68), played well throughout the season, finishing fifth, ninth, second and 20th during the fall.
